I had the opportunity to speak with musician and songwriter Chesney Claire as she talked about her career and what her future goals were.

Richard: How did you get started in music and what drew you to the craft?

Chesney: I started in music when I was about 15. I started Show Choir at my high school and we traveled around to the mall and to big casinos that we had in our small town of Louisiana and I really fell in love with performing and everything like that and I started singing in country bars. I started doing country music and after I graduated high school, I realized that country music wasn’t really for me. I moved out to Branson, Missouri and I started recording and songwriting and it’s just gone from there.

Richard: Is there another artist that you were greatly influenced by?

Chesney: When Billie Eilish first debuted her first album, I was amazed with her ability and the bravado that I was hearing. So, I really wanted to kind of mimic that in my own type of sound. So I did take a lot of influence from listening to Billie Eilish, but I also listen to a lot of hip-hop. So, some of my influences also come from there.

Richard: Who are some singers you would like to collaborate with in the future?

Chesney: I think me and Justin Beiber would make a pretty good duet and also Billie Eilish since she is kinda my very first inspiration in music. I would probably say her, as well.
